ESAB Rebel EMP 215ic 235ic 285ic MIG/Stick/TIG Welder – Review 2018

ESAB Rebel EMP 215ic, ESAB Rebel EMP 235ic and the Rebel 285ic are three different MIG, Stick and TIG welding machines made by ESAB.

The manufacturer ESAB is a renowned technology leader in the production of welding equipment. ESAB invented the coated welding electrode back in 1906.

All 3 ESAB Rebel welding machines shown here are so-called multi-process welders.

Summarized, this means you can choose between MIG, Stick and TIG welding techniques with the same device. Moreover, the welders connect to 120 V – 230 V output power supply, while the source can either be an engine-driven generator or mains.

Now let’s take a closer look at each of the 3 ESAB Rebel welders.

First, the portable ESAB Rebel EMP 215ic provides automatic recognition of input power. Because it has a 4.3″ color TFT display, you can easily select your desired welding process and the corresponding welding parameters.

The display input is ideal for beginners, intermediate welders and even advanced users, because it gives various options for everyone.

Beginners only need to set sheet metal thickness and wire thickness, put on their welding helmet and start welding. Once done, the machine calculates all other required welding parameters automatically.

Experienced users can make fine-tuning and detailed adjustments on arc settings (e.g. arc sloping, arc power), wire feed speed and shielding gas behavior (preflow time, postflow time). You can even store self-created welding programs for specific applications in the memory.

Another plus is, that you can weld Mild Steel, Stainless Steel or Aluminum with one welder.
